Communion

 

I Thes. 3:6         Withdraw from those that don’t follow order and tradition.  (Some traditions are good.)

Mark 7:6-8         Some traditions can be bad.

I Cor. 11:23-25   Even though Paul wasn’t at the first communion, God gave him the exact pattern.

Gal. 6:14           The only thing we glory in is the cross.

I Cor. 1:17-24     Paul preached the cross.

I Peter 2:24       Peter preached the cross.

Heb. 9:28          Christ was offered to bear the sins of many.

Heb. 10:10        We are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus.

Gal. 3:13           He was made a curse for us.

I Peter 3:18       Christ suffered for our sins not his own.

He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin.

II Cor. 5:21        He was made sin, who knew no sin.

Heb. 9:12-22      The perfection of Christ’s sacrifice.

Heb.13:12         In order to be sanctified, we need the blood of Jesus.

I John 1:7          The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.

Rom. 5:6-11      We have received atonement.

Luke 22:14-20    Communion instituted by Jesus.

Exod. 12           Christ’s death foretold in the Jewish Passover festival.

I Cor. 5:7           Christ fulfilled that type on Calvary.

Matt. 26:28        Communion looks back to Christ’s death on the cross.

 

I Cor. 11:27-29   The recipient of communion must be worthy (not sinless).

Mark 14:23        All believers are to participate in communion.

I Cor. 10:16       The Lord Supper symbolizes that the church is to be united.

I Cor. 10:17       We being many are one bread.

I Cor. 11:26       It should be observed as often as the church & minister think appropriate.

 

 

  1. Look backward – to remember the Lord’s death at Calvary.

  2. Look inward – to examine our own lives.

  3. Look forward – to the return of our Lord.
